We Survived Maycember – Barely

If you're reading this on May 31st, pause and take a deep breath—we made it. Maycember is officially over. For those unfamiliar (or those too sleep-deprived to define it), Maycember is what happens when May takes on all the chaos of December but without the cookies, twinkle lights, or built-in joy. It’s teacher gifts, field day, concerts, recitals, class parties, graduation ceremonies (so many graduations), and somehow...life still expects us to pack lunches and remember water bottles.

At Après, we've seen the exhausted faces, the coffee-fueled moms dashing in between drop-offs, the frantic texts for a “white dress, like…TODAY!” We get it, because we’re living it too.

This month was a whirlwind of:

• “Oh no, today was Pajama Day?”

• “We need what color shirt for the class picture?”

• “Wait…how is it already the last day of school?”

And while we’re collectively crawling to the summer finish line, we’re also quietly marveling that we did it. Our kids grew, learned, made it through their own little challenges—and so did we.

Now that the backpacks are (mostly) empty and the schedules are (slightly) looser, we're shifting into summer mode at the shop too. Think effortless dresses, fun sets, pool-ready accessories, and outfits that can go from camp to ice cream stand.

So here’s to surviving Maycember. Here’s to the moms (and dads and caregivers) who pulled off the impossible. Here’s to slower mornings and sticky fingers and sunshine and maybe, just maybe, a moment to sit down.
